Plant in a shady location and keep moist, watering into the soil rather than into the foliage. Mulch around the base of the mound. Ensure that the plant's crown stays safe from foot traffic and small shovels. (The crown will be hard to see when the plant is cut back, but it must be protected.) Cut back foliage in late autumn.

This sweet shade plant maintains healthy and attractively decorated foliage all summer. In spring, tiny flowers in the prettiest blue appear on thin stems that stand above the foliage. The flowers look like Forget-Me-Nots and cluster beautifully above the heart-shaped leaves, with their sky blue tone showing well. Resisting deer but drawing in butterflies, this mounding plant looks best when planted in threes or larger groupings.
