If you are in a warm enough region, you can get your Monstera acclimated to the outdoor environment. Outdoors, it will grow much larger than what is noted in this description. But for many of us, this plant will remain in the home. Keep it away from pets. It does well in bright indirect light, warm temperatures, and good humidity. Appreciating a loamy and acidic soil, Monstera will need re-potting at least every couple of years. It likes a deep watering and then enough time to dry out in the top layers of soil. Use diluted liquid fertilizer to feed it once every two weeks from spring through fall. Wipe leaves gently from time to time, using a damp cloth.

This plant is a decorator's dream, in demand for greening up interiors. Highly decorated themselves, Monstera plants make a big statement due to the size of their leaves and the fancy cut-work that decorates their foliage. While all Monsteras show off some of this cut-work as the leaves mature, the rare 'Thai Constellation' cultivar also has blotchy marbling of a pretty cream, jazzing up the plant's leaves further. Not really a Philodendron, this plant becomes a vining beauty if grown outdoors in tropical areas. Indoors, it grows full and upright, perfect for a nice container. Exotic, yes... but this plant is easy to tend: It adds drama but creates no drama when it comes to plant care.
