This is one of the easier Hoyas to tend. While Hoyas must reach a certain maturity to bloom, you are likely to have better luck getting this plant to bloom than getting other Hoyas to put on a show of flowers. It likes a well-draining potting soil, with watering taking place only when the soil dries out. This might mean watering it only once every couple of weeks. Bright light is very good for this plant, which needs at least six hours of bright light per day, but no scorching afternoon sun. Still, growers must be aware that a little direct sunlight (morning light) will bring out the colors of the foliage. Try to keep this plant in its original pot for as long as possible to avoid shocking it. 

This rare variety of Hoya is a sight to see with long leaves (reaching up to five inches) that show in multiple colors. Foliage on the plant can range from light and dark green to light and dark pink, with each leaf having a darker margin and paler center. When the plant blooms, clusters of mauve orbs hang on impressively long and thin strands. The blooms look waxy or similar to porcelain, in true Hoya style. When viewed from the side, their shape resembles berries or little drawstring purses. From the top, they sit flat and side-by-side in the style of a "yo-yo quilt". (Remember those?) Whether or not you do, once you see this pretty Hoya, you'll be sure to remember it.
