Plant this ornamental grass in well-draining soil, and know that it will do fine in dry conditions. Maintain the feathery flower spikes throughout the season. While this grass is sun-loving, it is best to position it in a spot where a little light shade will give it a rest for at least a brief period in the day.

Talk about a cool plant! 'Cool as Ice' is a blue fescue that can handle periods of drought beautifully once it is established. Thin blades of steel blue foliage form a mound from which light brown feathery flower spikes stand tall from spring through mid-summer, adding a little bit of height and a lot of visual interest. This mound with its calming color contrasts with other plants nicely and is very self-sufficient... a cool character, indeed.
