Use a controlled release fertilizer as you plant 'Royal Velvet' in a sunny spot. You may give it another feeding mid-season. Keep moist, but do be sure its soil has excellent drainage. Cutting it back to about 1/3 of its size is fine if the stems begin to droop and the plant takes on an open look during the growing season. Other than that, no trimming or deadheading is necessary.

This is a regal Supertunia with velvety blooms in darkest purple. This rich and deep color is perfect for broad spreads in the garden, and equally good as a contrast to paler and brighter blooms. Try it near plants with chartreuse foliage or flowers, or with other rich tones (say, those of a Coleus). This plant has been bred for excellent health and performance.
