This plant will suprise you with its ease-of-care and impressive flowering. It likes moist soil but can be left to dry out from time to time; this rarely causes any damage. Once one flush of long-lasting blooms has served its duty, cut back the stems of the spent blooms to get ready for another flush. The stems will twist and turn with length and get a little tangled... just trim and wait for new stems which will flower. During rare times when the plant is awaiting new buds and blooms, its perfectly mounded foliage will serve as an attractive way to fill areas. Each year, this mound, upon its spring return, will get progressively larger. Don't cut the foliage back in autumn, as its green color will turn reddish and provide visual interest.
