This plant has a moderate need for water and does well in most soils, provided they drain well. Mulch around your ornamental grass when first planting, taking care not to build up the mulch too high. If the rounded form of your Blue Fescue starts to change over the years, looking less tidy than it should, divide your plant. Trimming and cutting back are not necessary but will not harm your Blue Fescue. If you keep your plant untrimmed throughout the seasons, periodically brush through the blades of grass with your hand, pulling out any blades that have dried.
