Care:

Once established, this plant has good drought tolerance. It will do best in well-draining gritty or sandy soil, but it is not at all particular about its soil's pH. Intolerant of foot traffic, it will do best in rock gardens, slightly protected garden beds, or containers. It is thought to be hardier than other Lewisias. Give it a bit of afternoon shade each day in summer, and it should thrive.

Description:

For a flower-covered rock garden plant, Little Plum is an ideal choice. Star-shaped flowers with delicate striping in bubblegum or cotton candy pink (bright and sweet!) with some hints of salmon appear atop leathery rosettes which grow low to the ground. Blooms are about 1” across and very visible, sitting approximately 6” above the green rosette that lies beneath them. The flowers are arranged almost in bouquet style, causing lots and lots of pink to be visible. Expect blooms in late spring and early summer; you may see a second flush of blooms later in the season. This is a long blooming and slow growing plant with a nice, compact growth habit.
