Trick or Treat Time in the Miniature Garden
Trick or Treat? Those words bring many memories of being dressed up as a fairy and going door to door on Halloween. At each house, our supply of candy grew as the owners of the homes placed a treat in each of our grocery bags. With all my memories of this fall event, I must plan a miniature garden!
Have you seen the Trick or Treat Ghosts? They are going to be the main characters in my Halloween miniature garden. One ghost is holding a Jack ‘O Lantern waiting to be filled with treats. The other ghost, with arms out-stretched, is ready for a night of knocking on doors. Designing the garden begins. First, I will sprinkle Mini-Mexican Red Pebbles on the ground. To create some height, the troll cave with its stone façade will be placed on the background. A few Drunkards’ Dream plants could be planted behind the troll cave, since they would add the needed greenery. The Red Stem Pilea plants add the final touch of ground cover, with lots of October Pumpkins dotting the landscape. Gnome or Fairy doors, attached to the base of trees, will embellish the theme. Now it is time to add the spooky ghosts. I have to smile, because this Halloween miniature garden is cute!
If your garden is larger and there is room for additional decorations, you could add Twilight the Witch, who lives in the spooky Tree House. The Scary “Keep Out” Gate would secure the entryway to Twilight’s home. In Twilight’s garden Platt's Black Brass Buttons with its dark colors would create an eerie effect. The Red Cobweb Hens and Chicks with a spider web effect works well in a miniature garden. So many ideas to think and dream about. My mind reflects to past Halloween events and then I remember…I need a black cat! Happy Halloween.
