Ajuga can be fertilized and does appreciate compost when planted. Plant it in a location that drains well, and then in summer, water thoroughly and then let the top layers of soil dry out before watering again. This plant will draw in pollinators but not deer. It needs no trimming but can be trimmed if a fuller look by way of new growth is desired.

'Flashy Flamingo' name aside, this is a very classy Ajuga. Its foliage starts out golden and stays golden, despite summer heat and the passage of time. Flower spikes show off blooms in a very classy pink... almost dusty pink. Flowers appear from spring into summer. The plant's foliage stays good looking all year long, providing great autumn interest and appearing when the snow melts, much to the gardener's delight. A terrific, easy-care ground cover or border plant!
