Hailing from the tropical rainforests of Sri Lanka, Impatiens repens (also called yellow impatiens or Ceylon balsam) is a very rare plant that is considered to be extinct in the wild. Its bright red stems, covered in small, round, dark green leaves, cascade downwards. In spring, summer, and fall, bright yellow hooded flowers will bloom. The foliage looks great by itself, but the flowers make this plant a stunner!
This evergreen perennial species does well in hanging baskets, but can also creep horizontally. For best results, provide bright, filtered light, well-draining soil, and some humidity. Protect from temperatures below 50 degrees F. Prefers humid conditions.
