A very desirable member of the Gentian family, Carpet Tulips grows as small tufts of dark green, glossy leaves with many little tulip-shaped pink flowers featuring yellow eyes. It blooms from mid-summer to autumn. The flowers are carried on short, erect stems on low 2 inch tall plants. Centaurium enjoys a fairly fertile well-drained soil. It likes sunshine - in fact, the flowers only open wide in sun. It is fairly short-lived but it will self-seed freely. Not recommended for most indoor gardens.
