Fittonia is an low tropical perennial that is used for its attractive colorful foliage. The albivenis group of plants typically feature oval leaves with veining. It has insignificant white to red-tinged flowers occasionally during the year. Easily grown in a regular well-drained potting mixture without any pre-mixed slow release fertilizer. Grow best in bright indirect light or dappled part sun. Avoid direct sun. Prefers high humidity. Water regularly but moderately during the year. Yellowing of leaves may indicate overwatering. Withering of leaves may indicate need for increased humidity. Pinch growing stems to shape plants and to promote denser foliage. Many growers also pinch off any flowers buds that may appear. Because of their need for high humidity, they really thrive in a terrarium situation.
