This plant likes light shade, but can tolerate a full sun location. It is adaptable to many different soils, but will perform the best in a well-drained, loose soil mixture. To keep it looking its best, keep it moist. The leaves are small and thin in a rich red to burgundy wine color, which gives it the name “Red Thread”. The richness of the color will show up the best on the new growth of the plant. It is a tropical low growing and mounding perennial plant that can produce small purple flowers under the proper conditions. This is a good plant to utilize for color and texture in the container. Can be used as a terrarium plant as well.
