New Plants for a New Year

Perennial plants are those that live more than two years.  These plants are different from shorter-lived annuals and biennials.  In simple terms, annual plants die in the winter season and must be replanted every year.  Perennials come back every year and only require planting once. There are perennials for sun, part sun, shade or part shade.  A persistant, enduring list  of perennial plants to pick from.  Start planning your garden by taking a look at the new perennials that will transform your garden throughout the season. Perennials can add stability, stamina and color to your garden and provide beautiful blooms that can attract butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators. The online catalog will give you the information about the new plants and all the other plants available for this season.

This photo is of the new Gaillardia aristata (Blanket Flower) "Fire Wheels". Brilliant red flowers with yellow tips and unusual tubular-like petals.  Compact and sturdy habit with reliable first year flowering.  A durable and long lived selection that blooms through the summer.  Plant this one in a rock garden with  full sun.  Also makes a suitable cut flower and container plant. It is just one of the many colorful sun lovers available.
