 Pick of the Week...
ZZ Plant

Houseplant Highlight:  Zamioculcas zamiifolia ZZ Plant

This houseplant is simple to care for and is great for beginners, preoccupied office workers, and those with brown thumbs!  The plant has been around for centuries, originated in Africa where is was grown outside.  In 1996, Dutch nurseries started distributing it around the world and since then, ZZ plants have entered homes, hearts, and offices around the world.  ZZ plant tolerates neglect, drought, and low-light conditions.  The waxy, smooth leaves reflect sunlight and brighten any room.  It is also very resistant to diseases and insects and is slow growing so it won't outgrow the container quickly.  ZZ plant is mainly a foliage plant with wide, dark green, attractive leaves.  It can flower mid-summer to early autumn, however; the flowers are small and insignificant.  It's an air purifier adept to removing toxins from the air.  One drawback of the ZZ plant is that all parts of the plant are poisonous.
