 Pick of the Week...
Pachira Money Tree Plant

Houseplant Highlight:  Pachira - The Money Tree Plant

The legend which gives this plant its name is that the money tree plant will bring great wealth to its owner, and the trunks are usually braided together to "lock in" luck and fortune.  Feng Shui practitioners believe that the Pachira creates "chi", positive energy that brings luck in homes.  The five braided stems signify money coming into the home and the five leaves on each branch symbolize the five fundamental Feng Shui elements:  metal, wood, water, fire and earth.  It is a very durable plant and can grow in many different conditions.  Pachira likes the temperature above 60 degrees F, and can be outdoors in the summer and is a good houseplant for half-shade or indirect sunlight.  This plant also loves fluorescent light and makes a great plant for the office or as a bonsai tree because it is easy to maintain and regulate its growth. In winter when the plant growth slows, lessen the amount of water you give to the plant.  The thicker stem at the bottom of this plant is a place where it can store water for drier days, so don't worry about it drying out too much. Rotating the Pachira will assist it to grow symmetrical since it grows towards the light.   So bring some luck and fortune into your home with the Money Tree Plantyes

Lisa Krueger Artwork

Art in the Garden Featured Artist

Please join us on Saturday, July 13th for the second annual Art in the Garden.  There will be artists selling their work along with live music in our display garden. You can check out this event and others on our website

Introducing Lisa Krueger, one of the artists that will be exhibiting. Featuring her pastel piece "A Bumble Among the Thistles".

I create original pieces of art using watercolor, ink, pastel, acrylic, alcohol ink, and mixed media.  I'm always open to trying a new medium, and find comfort in those that are familiar.  Most of the time I use a photo as reference to start a painting.  This image is just a guide; a starting point as imagination and creativity takes over.  I am so blessed to live in the beautiful north woods.  Being surrounded by all this beauty I often feel that I want to capture a specific feeling; a moment on my canvas that I am able to enjoy and share with others.  Art and being creative have always been something I have loved, and enjoyed and feel this passion for art is a fift from God.  My artwork can be viewed at area gallery's in the north woods.  I also participate in art shows and am a member of the Northwoods Art Tour and area art leagues.  I teach various classes for children and adults and lead paint parties as a fun learning and social option.  My studio, Oak View Studio, is open by appointment year round.  It's always a pleasure to share my creative space and artistic creations with those who stop by.
