Remodeling Projects

During the months we are closed for business, we work to make improvements and additions to provide a more enjoyable shopping experience for all of our customers - and a better working environment for our employees.

We started in the fall by expanding our gift shop area. We extended the roof, added a couple of 'removeable' walls, and poured a concrete floor. The enclosed gift shop will provide more comfortable shopping during the cooler spring days. It also allows for more display area for all kinds of new gift items.

To provide better access to our hundreds of hostas, we re-did the cold frames and built new tables, raising the level of the plants and making it much easier for everyone to reach and take care of the plants.

The most important improvement made was the installation of an automatic irrigation system in our display gardens. This will allow for more regular watering throughout the entire garden area, and minimize the time moving hoses and setting up sprinklers - not to mention the inevitable accidental 'shower'. Our customers, our staff and especially our plants will be much happier!

Having a 'Little' Fun

We have also been having a 'little' fun over the winter months. In the front of House 2 we have built a large indoor miniature garden, complete with 'vegetable' & flower gardens, waterfalls, and quaint cottages. If you look closely, you may even see a fairy or two! We will carry a wide assortment of mini-landscape materials, furniture and accessories to create any size and style of garden design. We will also have a selection of Cicely Mary Barker Flower Fairy hand-painted ornaments that includes the biography of the artist.

Weekly Sales

Our weekly anniversary sales were so successful last year that we've decided to continue them this year. In addition to the 25% off sales, we will also have weekly Birthday specials. These will be specially chosen fragrant flowers or plants and will be 35% off for those who are celebrating a birthday that week. These will be announced on our website and through our weekly E-newsletter.

New Products

With the increasing popularity of growing your own vegetables, many of our new products are aimed at making it easier and healthier both for you and for the environment. One such product is the Earthbox Garden Kit. It is maintenance free, easy to use and guaranteed to double the yield of a conventional garden with less fertilizer and little water. We will also have Tomato Bags made from sturdy, reinforced vinyl tarp materials that retains moisture to help promote a strong root system. They are easy to transport and reasonably priced.

Pot Pads save your deck, prevent deck rot, poor drainage, and uneven fading from flower pots sitting directly on the deck or patio! Pot pads are uniquely designed using a rubberized non-skid material to sit discreetly under a potted plant making it easier to move heavy containers over flat surfaces.

So, enough of the practical, useful stuff already. We are also introducing several items that are decorative and fun - and still environmentally friendly.
