New Shrub Walk in the Garden

By the end of October 2014, our garden team was still running around cutting back perennials, moving plants, dividing and fertilizing, when we got the crazy idea to take down one large overgrown Amur Maple shrub. You know how it goes in the garden - one thing leads to another, and suddenly this new area materialized in the back of the sunny display garden! It was begging for some ideas. So we made a berm, created a winding path down through the shrubs and trees and planted a lot of new sample varieties that we were fortunate enough to get our hands on. We know that it is a lot easier for you to make the right choices when the hardiness has been tested and the mature size can be seen. Here's to new ideas and new gardens!

New Fish Pond

One of the most popular places in the greenhouse is the fish pond in the herb house. For over 20 years it had a wooden frame that was starting to show signs of wear along with a bulging middle. So we decided to build a solid block retaining wall frame. The fish will be really happy with a deeper pond to hide and do their fishy business. Make sure you bring your kids to visit the fish.

Rewards Club 2.0

Changes are good for all of us. It keeps us young at heart - just like true gardeners should be! We have been listening to your suggestions and have decided to change the Rewards Program that we rolled out last year. We believe the new program will be simpler, fairer, and reward more of you as well. It is based on dollars spent rather than the number of visits. Every time you spend a total of $250 you will be credited $10 on your next sale automatically. You do not have to remember anything - only to come to the Greenhouse! All of the other benefits of the program will remain the same. If you already signed up in 2014 you are set to go. If not, you can sign up on the Rewards Club page.

Perennial Plant of the Year 2015

Geranium Biokovo is the Perennial Plant of the Year for 2015. Geranium Biokovo is an excellent and reliable groundcover. In addition it is a durable perennial that brings delicate texture to the landscape. Hardy to Zone 4, this deer-resistant perennial forms low-growing dense mounds of palmate foliage, covered with masses of dainty white-pink flowers. Great for home gardeners... and butterflies, too.

What about a "Tree of Life" copper wall plate? This is unique with its two dimensional form. The light makes the shadow of the tree on the background move and create interest.
