Every couple of years we like to ask you for your opinion of our greenhouse and what possible ideas and suggestions you may have. It does involve a couple of minutes of your time to take this short survey, but if you complete it we will give you a coupon valued at $5 for any plants that you can redeem in September or May 2011.

The Labor Day weekend and Autumn Splendor is coming up. If you are planning some spring color we expect to have bulbs available next weekend. New this year is some great looking locally grown organic Garlic bulbs. Anytime through September is the perfect time to get your bulbs planted. Unsure how to prune your shrubs? You can attend the class called 'Prune your way to healthy shrubs' which will start at 11:00 a.m. on both days. We will cover pruning techniques for the main groups of shrubs and trees.

Moon Gardeners

Why would you want to garden at night? This question is what moon gardeners must repeatedly answer when the uninitiated wonder about their favorite evening pastime. Well this is why and how. When the sun goes down at the end of the day things go through a transformation. More subtle senses awaken in us and we are able to pick up details that escape us during the day. Gone is the bright glaring sun light, the heat, lots of sounds die down, even the wind often stops. Some flowers only start opening up and releasing their fine fragrances at night. Because there is so little light the plants we choose are mostly white flowers and plants with silver foliage. Read more here...

Each week we try to bring you a tasty green recipe to try out. Though the fruits or vegetables may not always be in season in the garden they do have some relevance to our general weekly topic. And if you like the recipe there is time to grow the plants for a future harvest.
